Donate instead of reselling your IT assets

Reselling retired equipment often returns very little. Donating it puts the same devices in the hands of students, families and nonprofits, with a receipt for your records.

Donation or resale: how to decide

Why donation can make sense

Resale returns on aging laptops and desktops are often small after fees, testing and shipping. Donation puts the same equipment to work for people who need it, and many organizations value that outcome as much as the return.

You don't have to choose all or nothing. Many companies resell newer equipment and donate the rest.

Questions to ask your team

How much would resale actually return after fees? What do your data security and reuse policies require? Does your organization have reuse or community goals? The answers usually point to the right mix.

We can review a list quickly so you can compare.

Data security

Every device is wiped with Acronis before reuse. Businesses can request a certificate of data destruction.

Receipts and the tax side

Giving Center, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, provides a written acknowledgment listing the equipment received. For equipment your business depreciated, the deduction is generally limited to its remaining tax basis, so fully depreciated equipment may deduct little or nothing.

Starting with the 2026 tax year, C corporations can deduct charitable gifts only above 1% of taxable income, up to 10%. Ask your tax advisor how a donation fits your situation. Our tax guide explains the rules in more detail.

From list to pickup

We review every donation before anything moves. We can't promise acceptance or a timeline, but we'll reply with next steps.
