What we take: Front desk PCs Laptops Monitors Tablets Printers Network gear

Donating from a medical or dental office

Why it helps

Clinics replace front desk computers, exam room laptops and tablets on a regular schedule. Those devices can serve families and nonprofits instead of going to a recycler.

Before you donate

Work with your IT provider to remove patient software, sign out of practice systems and reset each device. If your policy requires it, remove the drives and keep them.

Send a list with device types and quantities.

Protecting patient data

We wipe every device with Acronis before reuse and can provide a certificate of data destruction. Your practice is responsible for its own HIPAA obligations, so follow your policies for removing patient data before donating.

Receipts and the tax side

Giving Center, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, provides a written acknowledgment listing the equipment received. For equipment your business depreciated, the deduction is generally limited to its remaining tax basis, so fully depreciated equipment may deduct little or nothing.

Starting with the 2026 tax year, C corporations can deduct charitable gifts only above 1% of taxable income, up to 10%. Ask your tax advisor how a donation fits your situation. Our tax guide explains the rules in more detail.
