What you can donate
We review every item case by case. We don't accept CRT monitors. Pick your device to see how to get it ready.
Shipping one device, or clearing out an office
Single devices are shipped from Alaska after your form is approved. Donors ship at their own cost, and shipping is sometimes reimbursed. We send the address only once your donation is approved, so please don't ship anything before you hear from us.
Businesses, schools and offices in Alaska with many devices can schedule a bulk pickup. Send us a list of what you have and we'll plan it with you.
No drop-off. We don't have drop-off locations.
Bulk pickup. Available everywhere in Alaska.
Data wiped. Every device is wiped with Acronis before reuse. Businesses can request a certificate.
Receipts. Giving Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
Who your donation helps
We place thousands of computers a year with students, job seekers, seniors, veterans, families, schools and nonprofits. Every device is wiped with Acronis before it's reused.

Who donates from Alaska
Alaska donors are spread across huge distances, from Anchorage offices and Fairbanks university departments to Juneau state agencies and villages reached only by plane or boat. Because shipping out of Alaska costs more, we look closely at each form before anything moves, so donors don't pay to ship something we can't place.
Cold is the main risk. Lithium batteries don't like freezing temperatures, so let a laptop sit at room temperature before you power it on, and don't leave a packed box in an unheated vehicle.
Donating from home
If you're in Fairbanks or anywhere else in Alaska with one or two devices at home, the process starts online. You tell us what you have, we review it, and approved donations ship to the address we send you.
There is no drop-off location, so shipping after approval is the way single devices reach us from Alaska.
Businesses, schools and nonprofits
From Fairbanks office parks to small businesses in Juneau, Alaska organizations can schedule a bulk pickup for approved donations.
A spreadsheet export from your asset system is a good start. A certificate of data destruction is available on request.
Your data
We wipe every device with Acronis before it's reused. You can protect yourself further by backing up, signing out of your accounts and resetting the device before you donate. Our guides cover Windows, Mac, Chromebook, iPhone, iPad and Android.
Taxes for Alaska donors
Computers with Causes is a program of Giving Center, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. If you itemize, you may be able to deduct the fair market value of your donation on your federal return. Starting in 2026, itemizers can deduct only giving above 0.5% of adjusted gross income.
State tax rules vary. Ask your tax preparer how a donation affects your Alaska return. Our tax guide explains the federal rules.
