Single devices are shipped from Rhode Island after your form is approved. Donors ship at their own cost, and shipping is sometimes reimbursed. We send the address only once your donation is approved, so please don't ship anything before you hear from us.

Who donates from Rhode Island
Rhode Island donations come from healthcare and university offices in Providence, defense and marine businesses around Newport and Quonset, state offices, and households in a state small enough that every town is close to a carrier.
Coastal humidity and salt air can affect electronics. Store devices indoors and dry.
Electronics rules in Rhode Island
Rhode Island bans many electronics from the trash and has a manufacturer recycling program. Donating a working device keeps it in use first.
We responsibly dispose of electronic waste through standard recycling and processing procedures, which are then handled by downstream facilities that process any e-waste material.
Donating from home
A home donation from Rhode Island usually takes three steps: the form, our review, and shipping after approval. Photos help our team decide quickly.
Whether you live in Newport or a rural part of the state, you'll get the same instructions once your donation is approved.
Businesses, schools and nonprofits
Bulk donations from Rhode Island are picked up after approval. Schools, clinics, law firms and companies of every size donate this way.
List the equipment, where it is, and whether drives are included. Businesses can request a certificate of data destruction.
Your data
We wipe every device with Acronis before it's reused. You can protect yourself further by backing up, signing out of your accounts and resetting the device before you donate. Our guides cover Windows, Mac, Chromebook, iPhone, iPad and Android.
Taxes for Rhode Island donors
Computers with Causes is a program of Giving Center, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. If you itemize, you may be able to deduct the fair market value of your donation on your federal return. Starting in 2026, itemizers can deduct only giving above 0.5% of adjusted gross income.
State tax rules vary. Ask your tax preparer how a donation affects your Rhode Island return. Our tax guide explains the federal rules.
