What you can donate

We review every item case by case. We don't accept CRT monitors. Pick your device to see how to get it ready.

Shipping one device, or clearing out an office

Single devices are shipped from Oregon after your form is approved. Donors ship at their own cost, and shipping is sometimes reimbursed. We send the address only once your donation is approved, so please don't ship anything before you hear from us.

Businesses, schools and offices in Oregon with many devices can schedule a bulk pickup. Send us a list of what you have and we'll plan it with you.

What to know before you donate in Oregon

Who donates from Oregon

Oregon donations come from tech companies in the Portland area and Silicon Forest, athletic and outdoor brands, university departments in Eugene and Corvallis, state offices in Salem, and households from the coast to the high desert.

Rainy winters west of the Cascades mean boxes should stay dry. Pack indoors and drop them at the carrier.

Electronics rules in Oregon

Oregon has a statewide electronics recycling program and restricts putting many electronics in the trash. Donating a working device comes first.

We responsibly dispose of electronic waste through standard recycling and processing procedures, which are then handled by downstream facilities that process any e-waste material.

Donating from home

Most donations from Oregon homes are a single laptop, desktop or tablet. Fill out the form with a few photos and an estimated value. Our team reviews it and, if approved, emails you the shipping address and packing instructions.

Donors in Portland, Eugene, Salem and smaller towns all follow the same steps. Please don't ship anything before your form is approved.

Businesses, schools and nonprofits

Businesses, schools and nonprofits across Oregon can donate in bulk, and bulk pickup is available everywhere in the state. Send a list with device types, models and quantities, and tell us about access at your site.

Offices in Portland replacing a fleet of laptops, school districts retiring Chromebooks and property managers clearing out a building all use bulk donation.

Your data

We wipe every device with Acronis before it's reused. You can protect yourself further by backing up, signing out of your accounts and resetting the device before you donate. Our guides cover Windows, Mac, Chromebook, iPhone, iPad and Android.

Taxes for Oregon donors

Computers with Causes is a program of Giving Center, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. If you itemize, you may be able to deduct the fair market value of your donation on your federal return. Starting in 2026, itemizers can deduct only giving above 0.5% of adjusted gross income.

State tax rules vary. Ask your tax preparer how a donation affects your Oregon return. Our tax guide explains the federal rules.
